Timberline Secondary... "the forest high school"

Timberline Secondary, aptly named for the surrounding standing timber and its proximity to the forested Beaver Lodge Lands, opened its doors in 1997.

Timberline shares a physical space with North Island College and this partnership has proven valuable to countless students over the years. Today, this unique setting continues to provide students opportunities to immerse themselves in nature, whether as part of a PE class out for a run in the trails, as future biologists collecting samples, or as artists drawing inspiration for the pottery studio.

Equipped with a cafeteria, 200 seat theatre, small engine and wood manufacturing shops, video production studio, and a technology makerspace, Timberline abounds with vibrant programming. Teachers embrace their passions in designing courses that might find a student snow camping up Mount Washington, playing the lead in the school musical, simulating crime scene investigations, or charting the path of migrating salmon. Be it our athletics, academics, leadership, music, drama, art, or scholarship, Timberline students make their mark in the local community and beyond.

With roughly 700 students, Timberline's school culture is one of community and diversity. We strive for all students to see themselves reflected in school values and to feel both safe and able to take risks. We honour our relationship with local First Nations and all other First Nations, Métis, and Inuit people.

In 2019, artist Jessica Chickite reinvigorated the school entry with a soaring mural interpretation of a big house with animal crests, and Jesse Recalma carved a powerful totem pole that adorns our main entrance. This symbolizes our commitment to working with community members and celebrating local talent.

At its core, Timberline is committed to helping students become their best selves.
